2 - EAST PETALUMA
The city of Petaluma was initially settled primarily around its river in the heyday of the Gold Rush era, with the majority of its early neighborhoods of Victorian heritage homes preserved to this day to the west of the river. East of the river remained largely rural, with farmhouses and ranches few and far between on expanses of the city’s more flatter land until substantial development beginning in the 1960s and for several decades after, transformed what had been the unpopulated side of town into multiple, distinctive neighborhoods of appealing subdivisions of modern family homes. Whether it is an executive style home in am exclusive neighborhood, a super-efficient town home close to the junior college and shopping or a traditional 60’s style ranch house on a quiet, tree-lined cul-de-sac that fits the bill, east Petaluma is ideally situated for most of the city’s sports and leisure and shopping facilities. Cycling paths connect schools and sports fields along the eastern perimeter. West Petaluma’s historic downtown district with its abundance of restaurants and boutiques is a short drive or cycle ride across town. Click here for Median home price.
