7 - NOVATO

Novato is the northernmost city in Marin County, located around 25 miles north of San Francisco, 10 miles, north-northwest of San Rafael and 11 miles south of the city of Petaluma, in neighboring Sonoma County. Novato’s population of around 52,000 is makes this one of the largest cities in the county. Originally the site of several Coast Miwok Indian villages, the best known being the village of Olompali, today one of the area’s most visited, scenic historic parks. From ranch-style homes in suburban neighborhoods surrounding Novato’s historic downtown, to wooded hillside communities in Atherton Oaks, Black Point and Green Point, the city and immediate surrounding areas offers a wide variety of home style choices, from golf course living to planned communities with an abundance of amenities, including San Marin, Ignacio and Hamilton.
