Historic Sonoma is located in the center of wine country between Petaluma and Napa and to the South East of Santa Rosa. The city of Sonoma’s historic town plaza is a reminder of the town's Mexican colonial past and its starring role as the center of the State of California’s wine industry. There’s little wonder that Sonoma attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year to wander its charming downtown and back roads of extraordinary wineries. With a resident population of around 10,000, Sonoma maintains its’ small town feel despite its tourism draw and continues to prove immensely popular as a picture-perfect place to live. Homes in Sonoma range from small vintage downtown cottages to secluded ranch properties and Victorian vineyard estates. Tidy subdivisions of single-family homes and townhouses provide for less flamboyant budgets, with something for everyone and all ages and stages of life.  There are numerous outstanding schools in Sonoma serving public, private and charter students.
